Fork Lift Truck - Novice Operator 3 -5 Day Course
  For:
  Trainees that have no previous experience of operating fork lift trucks and are over the age of 17 with a reasonable degree of fitness.
  Aim:
  Trainees will be able to operate a truck safely and correctly in accordance with the manufacturer’s handbook and accepted good practice. They will clearly understand the causes of instability of truck and truck loads and be able to carry out a routine daily or pre-shift inspection of the truck. This course will also provide underpinning knowledge for an NVQ.

red dot Correct Operating Procedures
red dot Stability of trucks and their lifting limits
  Practical:
 
red dot Introduction to the fork lift truck – identification of parts, location and function of controls and instruments
red dot Elementary vehicle operation including starting, moving, steering and stopping
red dot Explanation of the hydraulic system
red dot Weight assessment
red dot Handling loaded and unloaded pallets
red dot Stacking and de-stacking in aisles and racking
red dot Driving on / off ramps
red dot Loading / unloading flat-bed or lorry trailer
red dot Daily inspection of fork lift truck and action to be taken if faulty
red dot Fork lift stability
red dot Operators Safety Code
red dot Practical and theory tests
  Certification:
  RTITB Certificate of Training.
  Fork Lift Truck Existing Operator 2 - 3 Day Course
  For:
  Trainees that have some previous experience of operating fork lift trucks and are over the age of 17 with a reasonable degree of fitness.
  Aim:
  Trainees will be able to operate a truck safely and correctly in accordance with the manufacturer’s handbook and accepted good practice. They will clearly understand the causes of instability of truck and truck loads and be able to carry out a routine daily or pre-shift inspection of the truck.
